Jag doktorerade i oktober 2005 vid Uppsala universitet i området folkhälsa/socialmedicin. Ämnet var stresshantering och hälsopromotion på en frisk (arbetande) population samt en population med långvarig smärta. Du kan ladda ned och läsa min avhandling genom att klicka här.
Jag har en docentur i folkhälsovetenskap från Karolinska Institutet och har varit anknuten forskare vid Stressforskningsinstitutet vid Stockholms universitet. Idag är jag forskare vid Karolinska institutet och anknuten forskare vid Mayo Clinic. Min forskningsprofil stäcker sig från avancerad biologi/fysiologi till psykologi, mätmetodik och integrativ medicin (praktisk och teoretisk). Idag har jag huvudsakligen följande fokusområden i min forskargärning:
- Webbaserad intervention (stresshantering, hälsopromotion och systematiskt arbetsmiljöarbete på individ-, grupp- och organisationsnivå).
- Webbaserad datainsamling/(arbetsmiljö) kartlägning, utveckling av enkäter och psykometrisk analys.
- Hövlighet och ohövlighet på arbetet.
- Stress och hörselproblem.
- Biologiska och psykologiska markörer på stress och hälsa/ohälsa.
- Självskattad hälsa och sömnkvalitet; två mått som visat sig vara viktiga för att predicera den framtida hälsan, välbefinnandet, morbiditet och mortalitet.
- Humor i relation till stress och hälsa/ohälsa.
- Stress och smärta.
I grunden är jag komplementär- och alternativmedicinare med utbildningar i akupunktur, massage och hypnos samt legitimerad sjuksköterska. En del av min forskning har också varit inriktad på att bedöma effekten av komplementära metoder som massage och mental avslappning på långvarig muskelvärk. I min doktorandstudie utvecklade jag också en webbaserad självhjälpsmetod för stresshantering som sedermera i en randomiserad kontrollerad studie visade sig ge i alla fall kortvariga positiva effekter på indikatorer för såväl psykologisk som biologisk hälsa och välbefinnande samt stresshanteringsförmåga.
